A dominant overall performance by Papua New Guinea within an 8-0 win towards Samoa saw them progress towards the semi-finals of the actual 2016 OFC Countries Cup, and these were joined by Brand new Caledonia who came 1-1 with Tahiti in order to secure second devote Group A along with a semi-final tie towards New Zealand.
